A retrospective of the Tours of Poor Dayton.
Thanks for viewing and post your comments at the bottom.
Ok, here’s the reasons once again! First things first, we look at the community as a whole. My community is facing a turmoil! Manufacturing is quickly leaving the area. Population is declining and a national magazine has ranked Dayton, Ohio as well as four other cities in this state as the “fastest dying cities” in the nation.
Forbes magazine has written an article stating that economic recession has hit major cities in the “Rust Belt”. Many people are fleeing the communities and leaving the city standing on its last leg.

The reasons why I do these “A Tour Of Poor Dayton” videos for both profiles is to give the people a retrospective of why a community like Dayton, Ohio can be affected by an economic recession, the loss of jobs, population, home foreclosure, urban sprawl and crime. This can affect not only the state of Ohio, but the United States in general.
Ohio is a swing state, and no presidential candidate can carry the general election without securing the state of Ohio.
These are the people who represent Dayton, Ohio. The mayor, your congressmen, your senators, and your governor.
The mayor of this city is Rhine McLin, a former state senator and funeral home director. She is a Democrat and super delegate to the Denver Democratic National Convention.
The congressmen who represent this area:
Mike Turner is a Republican United States congressman from the 3rd District and represents Dayton, Centerville, Wilmington, Springboro Wright Patterson AFB, and Kettering. He was the former mayor of Dayton and a lawyer.
John Boehner is the Minority Leader. The Republican leader is from the 8th District and representative from West Chester. His area includes Dayton, Huber Heights, Riverside, Hamilton, Middletown, Eaton, Greenville, Troy, Wright Patterson AFB, and Tipp City. He was a former businessman.
Sherrod Brown is the Democratic United States Class II Senator. He was a former United States congressman from the 13th District. He was a former professor.
George Voinovich is the Republican United States Class I Senator. He was the 65th governor of Ohio and former mayor of the city of Cleveland. He was an auditor, businessman and lawyer.
Ted Strickland is the current governor of Ohio. He is a Democrat. Strickland was the former United States congressman from the 6th District. He was a psychologist, college professor and pastor.
Ask them about the situation in Ohio!

This is a very good video. I hope that it makes people think and start doing something for your City. Not everything is lost my brother. Keep your faith! I’ll be praying for you and Dayton. God bless you!
Good work Brain and …
Good work Brain and for the others who talk about “race” im a white man and I support Brian Beach and his work. I also live in Dayton and Ive hated to see Dayton turn into a twin of Flint Michigan. I have medical insurance for my family but i think of others as well. I support Barak for President I believe he is for the great good and not just the top 1% in the country!
one of your best …
one of your best videos
You injected racism …
You injected racism into your video again. I thought I was going to watch a video on Dayton. You went on to say people criticize your videos because you are a black man who supports a black candidate like Barack Obama for president. Are you capable of making a video without injecting the race card? When you do that, tell me why I should give a about Dayton? Try inflating your tires, that should save Dayton. What does McCain know? He actually thinks drilling will help. What an idiot!

I think this would …
I think this would be a great place for some of the NEW Green Jobs - bring manufacturing back to these ares and retool and retrain our factories…I will write some of the folks you list. I am a WHITHE WOMAN voting for my Democrat candidate - did it in the primaries. I can’t wait until he’s in office. He has a great plan to get some of these people back to work!!!!
Creepy… In most …
Creepy… In most of your shots, seems like its after some sort of viral disaster movie where all the people are missing. Keep on keeping on Brian.
As I was growing up …
As I was growing up in the seventies, Dayton was fairly prosperous city with potential. Now, it’s declining and gangs and drug dealers are moving into this city.

It’s not enough to …
It’s not enough to lead, I meant.
Back in the day, …
Back in the day, companies waited until/if they became bankrupt to go out of business and lay off workers. Now, even the most successful companies will lay people off if they see their profits dwindling a little bit, and they realize they can save a bunch more by going to Mexico or China. of course, this really isn’t what economists mean when they say “compete”, but, according to execs., if they’re saving money, that’s “expanding” profit. It’s fuzzy logic, but it works all the same.
But what do …
But what do Republican politicians, free traders, and economists tell us? “Oh, don’t worry about fears about job losses and devastated communities. That’s just liberal propaganda. We have to suffer major job losses in order to increase our economic prosperity. Remember, there ain’t no such thing as a free lunch.” Yeah, except for companies receiving corporate welfare!!
Globalization has allowed companies that aren’t even close to bankruptcy to lay people off with no questions asked.
Back in the day, we …
Back in the day, we could still fight for workers’ rights, and populism worked. But in this era of massive globalization, free trade, imports exceeding exports, American car companies not being able to compete w/ Japan and Germany (for instance), and so much more, I’m afraid it’ll almost impossible to go back to the way things were. The middle and lower classes are dying, slowly but surely. And for what? To fatten the pockets of the richest men in the world?? CEO pay is outta control.
Can we restore …
Can we restore workers’ rights and union rights and still ensure good pay, bring back manufacturing jobs, and get out of NAFTA and the WTO without severe negative consequences? I really don’t know. My bet is probably not. We’re too far in deep to go back on our word, it seems. We’re far too dependent on imports and trade with nations like China and Japan. We have huge trade deficits. Workers and unions have to compromise, and they sometimes actually lose a lot of benefits.
Obama may have a …
Obama may have a plan for the economy, but if you look at Nader’s plans, he’s known all along the solutions, and his plans are much more broad-minded. Nader’s been against these bogus free trade agreements like NAFTA, CAFTA, and GATT since the beginning. Nader would get rid of the anti-union Taft-Hartley. He would help reinstill workers’ rights in this country, as much as humanly possible in this day of globalization and outsourcing, anyway.
I’m afraid we’re going to the point of no return.
This kind of …
This kind of is exactly the reason why I’m supporting Nader. I believe in him. I don’t believe in Obama. Sure, he’s famous, and he’s articulate and has charisma and all that crap, but that’s enough to lead. Has he helped pass any monumental bills in Congress so far?? No.
He voted FOR the FISA telecom immunity, after he claimed he was against it. Then he made excuses saying “Oh, well, you know, I didn’t actually flip-flop.” Like you didn’t! He wants it both ways, but he can’t.
Has the local …
Has the local government or staste government done ANYTHING to help Dayton, like tax incentives for new businesses to set up and create jobs again? Dayton was one of those Ohio cities ed by outsourcing, wasn’t it?
Greedy ers.
Keep fighting Brian …
Keep fighting Brian! Your a uva dude
Hey Brian, what do …
Hey Brian, what do you think of the Greene? I understand the risks in investing downtown, but every time I drive up 675 and see the ing Greene all lit up I can’t help but wonder what would happen if someone put the same retail on Main Street.
