Fannie Mae said it will set aside the loan of a woman who shot herself as sheriff’s deputies tried to evict her from her foreclosed home.
Addie Polk, 90, of Akron, Ohio, became a symbol of the nation’s home mortgage crisis when she was hospitalized after shooting herself at least twice in the upper body Wednesday afternoon.
On Friday, Fannie Mae spokesman Brian Faith said the mortgage ociation had decided to halt action against Polk and sign the property “outright” to her.

I love the print story of this, the sheriff brought along two deputies in case addie got violent being evicted from her home.
For christ sake she’s 90 years old how violent can she get?

Fannie Mae said that they deemed it “appropriate” to forvive her mortage debt.
They also deemed it “appropriate” to forclose on her home in the first place. What a great bunch of folks. They sure wouldn’t want to look like a bunch of money hungry holes.

They forgave her mortgage after the suicide attempt. So, the answer to foreclosure is to shoot yourself and survive - unless you own a bank, then just wait for your check in the mail from Bush
I wish more would …
I wish more would have been done in this bailout to help people like Addie Polk. Partial amnesty on the loans or refinance to a lower interest rate and better terms. More should have been done to help the average person. I will continue to write my congressmen and pressure them to propose a bill to help with the foreclosures. They are up for re-election, they seem to be more responsive around this time. If the foreclosures continue our economy will continue to suffer.
