A lot of them are probably moving to smaller accommodations, probably with relatives, so they couldn’t fit all their junk in their new place if they wanted to.
I’d save my stuff though. It’s almost entirely practical in nature, like emergency long term food and other supplies, tools, and equipment and so on. I own very little that isn’t of real practical use. I have no poetry in my soul, so I have nothing that even slightly resembles decoration or any such silliness, so I’d try to save it all.

When they leave a lot of people choose to travel light. They dump furniture and fluf. Of course as a planner I’d probably get a storage locker and move most of my stuff, but as a planner I’m not in that situation in the first place. I bought a condo that I could afford on 1/3 of my normal wage and I could survive a long time if my income ended. I never married because marriage leads to divorce and financial ruin. As a planner marriage was out of the question, so I never needed a house.

Why are people leaving their personal items in the foreclosed homes? I thought most people strip them out before they leave?
